Successful Crusaders

I can’t believe that today is the 100th day of school! Time has really flown by! Since I hadn’t met with kindergarten since before winter break, it seemed like the perfect time to touch on ways to be a successful learner. This lesson is found on www.dese.mo.gov. As a class, we talked about the following five ways to be a successful learner:

1.     Eyes on speaker
2.     Quiet bodies
3.     Raise my hand
4.     Quiet mouth
5.     Use my ears

After the students were able to identify these five ways to be a successful learner, we then discussed why each way is important. Some answers I received are, “If your eyes aren’t on the speaker, you won’t know what is going on” and, “If your body is moving around, other people won’t be able to pay attention.” Other answers given are, “If you don’t raise your hand or keep your mouth quiet, no one will hear what you are trying to say.” These kiddos sure understand what it means to be a successful learner!

Toward the end of the lesson, the kindergarteners started making their very own learning books. Below are a few examples:

We will be finishing these learning books next week! Have a wonderful weekend :)
